I started making bamboo fly rods in 1987.
There were very few manufacturers of split cane rods and information about how to make them was very hard to find.
It was only when I started to design and develop my own tapers from stress curves that I really understood what produces an outstanding bamboo fly rod. I can now produce rods to cater for individual requirements ranging from slow action rods to very fast tip action rods.
It takes years of rod making to become capable of producing rods to any sort of consistency.

Bamboo has been used in rod making for over 100 years and many great rods have been produced. The shear fact that it has been used as a rod making material over this length of time really says something very positive about this wonderful material.
